After years of financing, producing and selling feature films, we decided in 2016 that the world of animation was where we wanted to be and consequently Kapers Animation was born.

MEET THE PEOPLE

 

Peter Rogers

Peter has worked in the film and television industries in London and Los Angeles since 1986. He is currently the joint CEO of Kapers Animation. Peter was previously the CEO of Umedia International, a division of the Brussels headquartered media group and sold, among others, Giuseppe Tornatore’s last two pictures, the first of which, “The Best Offer”, has been the director’s most successful since “Cinema Paradiso”.

Before Umedia, Peter was President of Omega Entertainment and prior to that was for seven years the President of Lakeshore International, the sales and distribution subsidiary of Lakeshore Entertainment. The company produced, financed and distributed over 40 films during his tenure that included such successes as the Academy Award winning “Million Dollar Baby”, “Runaway Bride”, “Underworld” and “The Gift” and “She’s the Man”.

Over the course of his career, Peter has also been a partner in Cobalt Media Group financing and selling films such as “Open Range”, “House of Sand and Fog” and “Swimfan”, which remains to this date one of Fox’s most profitable independent acquisitions, and Sales and Marketing Director of J&M Entertainment (“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”).

Karl Richards

Karl is an award-winning filmmaker and has been a Producer for over two decades. He produced his first feature film in 2003 and has gone on to produce and co-produce 20 theatrical motion pictures in total. He is currently the joint CEO of Kapers Animation.

Prior to Kapers, and in between stints as an indie Producer, Karl was President of Production for European finance powerhouse “Umedia”, responsible for such films as “The Artist” and “Grace of Monaco”.

As an Indie outfit, Karl has produced films released by Universal Pictures, Warner Bros, Lionsgate and Sony Pictures. His most recent credits include “The Adventurer: Curse of the Midas Box” starring Michael Sheen and Lena Heady, the animated feature, “Deep” and “Crisis” starring Gary Oldman, Evangeline Lilly, Armie Hammer, Michelle Rodriguez and Luke Evans.

Karl is a graduate of the National Film and Television School and recipient of the ‘Special Jury Prize’ at SITGES for his cult film, “Jackboots on Whitehall” starring Ewan McGregor and Rosamund Pike. Karl is also a BIFA nominated producer.
