“The Monster Hunters Handbook” is an animated feature film that follows the story of Josie, an 11-year-old aspiring monster hunter, who embarks on an adventure with her brother Axel and friends to uncover the truth about monsters after their mother disappears.

Josie’s father, Bruce, wrote “The Monster Hunters Handbook” (TMHH) a hugely successful comic book with fans the world over, which unbeknown to the public is a genuine guide to protect humanity from monsters. When Bruce is abducted (by an actual monster) this triggers a chain of events that leads Josie and the gang, including the child minder and her bestie, on a rescue mission beyond the world as they know it.

Set in the town of BORING, OREGON, USA during the 1990’s, a world before home computers and mobile phones, the film draws comparisons from family adventures such as the “Goonies” combining the exploration of courage, family, and the blurred line between myth and reality whilst having a bold, contemporary visual style where graphic novel and animation worlds combine to create a rich canvas to tell Josie’s monster hunting story.
